INCLUSIONS
PREOPERATIVE CONSULTATION
• Consultation is performed by the Head Physician/Deputy Head Physician of the Orthopaedic Department on the basis of the provided medical documentation including X-ray/MRI images (consultation takes place before the patient arrives in the Czech Republic via e-mail in cooperation with QuickER and the Clinic Representative).
TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT
• Transport from the airport to the accommodation is arranged by the clinic.
PREOPERATIVE EXAMINATION
• The patient needs to share the results of dental, cardiological, gynaecological, urological/nephrological examinations and laboratory tests for review at least four weeks prior to the planned procedure. These examinations must not be older than 6 weeks.
• During the pre-operative examinations, the patient is accommodated at their own expense outside the clinic; an interpreter is granted for all examinations.
• Before health care services are provided, the patient shall pay the full amount of the ordered service.
• As part of the preoperative examination, the patient undergoes examination at the Internal Medicine Department, has an X-ray acquired, undergoes ENT, stomatological, cardiological, anesthesiological examinations; undergoes laboratory tests of swabs, blood and urine, women have a gynaecological examination.
• These examinations are necessary to identify possible sources of latent inflammation that could endanger the course of surgery and convalescence.
HOSPITALISATION
• The patient usually enters the orthopaedic department for hospitalisation 1 day before the planned operation.
• Upon admission, the patient is examined by a physician, acquainted with the treatment plan, and signs the informed consent forms.
• The patient is familiarised with the house rules of the clinic.
• After the operation, the patient is placed in the intensive care unit for 48 hours, after which, transferred to the orthopaedic postoperative ward.
• The usual period of hospitalisation in orthopaedics is 5 – 6 days.
• The rooms are double rooms and single rooms with a bathroom, television and access to the Internet.
• The clinic guarantees meals 3 times a day – the patient chooses lunch and dinner for the duration of the stay on the day of admission (a choice from five meals is available – one for lunch, one for dinner). On the day of admission, the patient is not given a breakfast or lunch, they only choose dinner. The catering provided takes into account the client‘s diet and current state of health.
• In the postoperative phase of hospitalisation, the client is instructed to follow a diet by the attending physician, usually for 3 days.
• The medicine, crutches, medical supplies and blood derivatives are already included in the price of the stay and are provided as needed.
• During the hospitalisation there are daily visits, visits by a physician and a physiotherapist.
OPERATION
• After the patient’s consultation with an anesthesiologist, the most appropriate method of anesthesia is chosen, and the informed consent form is signed.
• The procedures are performed under general or epidural anaesthesia
• The choice of implant is performed by the surgeon
1. after prior consultation
2. based on preoperative examination and bone condition and
3. according to the current state during the operation
• The clinic uses Zimmer Biomet and Matys implants
• The surgeon decides whether it will be a cemented or cementless replacement. Usually implants are cementless or hybrid replacement within 60 years, a hybrid replacement between 60 – 70 years and a cemented replacement over 70 years of the patient’s age.
• All final decisions are based on the age, condition of the bones and the opinion of the surgeon
• Surgery usually takes 60 – 90 minutes
FINAL EXAMINATION
• At the end of the stay, the patient undergoes a final orthopaedic examination and receives a release report in Czech.
• The patient receives the translated report in their preferred language no later than five working days from its issue.
TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT
• Transport from the clinic to the airport is arranged by the clinic
NOTES:
For better recovery, it is recommended to have a follow-up stay in the Rehabilitation Department to achieve maximum self-sufficiency and perfect stabilisation of the prosthesis.
